Blazing Trails and Paths.....

Never thought I would ever see myself doing this but.....

Never say never....

Now, keep an open mind.  These are good times...look closely:)
First you drag the branches that have fallen down over the past winter.  Then you cut up the bigger logs for firewood and stack them along the trails.  Then you put the bigger branches into the shredder.  It.is.LOUD!!  (Hence the earmuffs)

Then, you spread the mulch you have made onto the trails, so there are all sorts of interesting and scenic places to walk on without being attacked by the giant "Jumanji looking" pricker bushes that creep out to take back their territory faster than you can say "Jumanji". Run-on sentence I know, but that's what this feels like once you get in the groove!

Then you take a chocolate chip cookie break....

Citylogger was taking photos while our trusty neighbor  (who's on our speed dial as an emergency contact) was fixing our equipment.

I'm not kidding when I say this is hard work.  I'm also not kidding when I say, "I get it". I get it because it's quite the workout, and at the same time you are creating something to enjoy.

I will admit that this kind of pathway is easier for me to visualize:

The front walkway is being prepped and readied for stone.  This will be done long before those other pathways will, but that's ok....it's a process....

and time for another cookie break:)

Paving the Way

When we built our home during the summer of 2011, we moved in at the end of September.  We decided to wait to build the walkways in the front and back of the house. We figured we'd give the ground a chance to settle a bit.  So we just put some crushed stone down as a pathway.

Walkway to the screened porch and the back garage door

Here is the natural stone we've selected:

The stone has various shades of blues, browns, greens, and just plain gorgeousness!!
I think it will look nice with the stone on the front of the house as well.  Then, I get to play in the dirt and plant some more flowers and such - can't wait:)
And notice how all that white stuff from just yesterday, is gone - not complaining though.

I will take more pictures as we go so you can see the progress.  Hoping this will be done by Mother's Day (and Citylogger's birthday), for the party we are planning that weekend.
Stay tuned!

Something's Not Right...

I'm not quite sure, but something's not right.

Could be the colors...is it the green or the white?

He doesn't seem to mind.

This certainly is not right.  Why, just yesterday it was peering over all of this from above.

Where's the yellow sunshine from just a few days ago? You know the one:

Or the cotton-candy blossoms

That were just beginning to show their true colors.

I'm not quite sure, but something's not right.

Could be the colors...is it the green or the white?

He doesn't seem to mind.

I discovered a 50% off sale at Joann Fabrics this weekend, and am currently eyeing these:

Thought I might make some envelope pillow covers for some pillow inserts I have.  Hoping they would look nice on the chairs I found:

Might keep my mind off the fact that winter seems to have returned!

Happy Monday ~ stay warm ....and cover  bundle up!

Moving Day

Well, the day finally came and our youngest moved into his new home!  He's been busy painting and shopping for furniture, replacing carpet and cleaning.  There's still lots to be done, but much was accomplished this weekend.  This is a shot of the front and it's such a beautiful neighborhood.  More shots will come when the sun comes back.  It was pouring....and we now have a winter storm watch where we are expecting 4-8 inches of snow!  Those poor tulips!

Welcome home Dan!

After we finished painting and no carpet yet ~ sorry for the fuzzy picture!

After paint,  carpet and some furniture from our Ikea adventures!

Fireplace in living room

Ikea couch and lamp ~ and a picnic in the living room:)

Yes, they are putting together a grill inside, but it was pouring and there's only subflooring downstairs at this point.  But to the right of those sliding doors is a beautiful deck and that's the grill's home now.
You can see a peak of the kitchen in the background as well.

If you look closely you can see the deck to the right and the covered grill now:)

At this point, the whole upstairs is painted ( I didn't take pictures of his office because it was not quite unpacked), and carpeted.  Now that Dan is in, he will be focusing on the downstairs.

Lots of plans for the downstairs that will involve much DIY!  So, stay tuned for more pics as imaginations and creativity get to work:)

Congratulations on your new home Dan ~ we are so proud of you and wish you many happy memories there in the years to come:)

Love,

Mom and Dad

For Your Weekend

Hope it's beautiful!

Products I Love

There are so many beauty products out there, and it can be hard to choose. I discovered Sephora while out shopping with my sisters, and things have come a long way since "back in the day" if you know what I mean!

So here are a few that I have been staying with for a while now:

And...don't forget the sunscreen, as the above is what my dermatologist recommends. With warmer weather (and actually any sunny days), it's a good idea.

How about you?  Any favorites that you have found?

Mama Mia ~ Ikea...Part 2

Over the break, I took another ride with Dan to Ikea for his bedroom set.  You may remember our last adventure. He purchased living room furniture that day. A final reveal photo of everything will come soon, but for now, I leave you with these:

What I kept from the haul:)

It was a fun day:)
